Healthy Youth Community Coalition Activities at Kaposia Days!

Join the Coalition in celebrating Kaposia Days in South St. Paul.

Friday, June 25, 6:00 p.m.:
Join us in the Kaposia Days parade! We will be lining up at Lincoln Center Elementary School at 6:00 p.m. in spot 9.5. The parade begins at 6:30 p.m. and winds it's way through South St. Paul.

Sunday, June 27, 3:30 p.m.:
Healthy Youth Community Coalition Sunday Fun Day at Central Square!
We'll be running games and giving out prizes from 3:30-6:00 p.m. at Central Square. Come see if you can master "One Minute to Win It" games, or complete a coverall in Human Bingo! All winners are eligible for the Grand Prize, announced at the South St. Paul High School football field at 7:30 p.m.

Come help us support healthy activities for healthy kids in South St. Paul!

Volunteer for the Healthy Youth Community Coalition Sunday Fun Day events!

Healthy Youth Community Coalition will be sponsoring Sunday Fun Day events at Central Square Community Center in conjunction with Kaposia Days on Sunday, June 27 from 3:30-6:00 p.m. We need volunteers!

Volunteer actitivities include:
Running One Minute to Win It games
Assisting with Human Bingo number calling
Handing out prizes to Disco Bingo winners
Handing out give-aways at the Healthy Youth booth
Giving out goody-bags to audience members

We need people from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at Central Square and from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at the South St. Paul High School football field.If you are interested in volunteering for this event, please email Ellie at echurch@sspps.org and tell me what job you are interested in.

Prevention in South St. Paul, What is the goal?

The role of prevention is to create healthy communities in which people have a quality of life:

*Healthy environments at work and in school
*Supportive communities and neighborhoods
*Connections with families and friends
*Drug and crime-free

How are we accomplishing prevention?

* By continuing an alcohol prevention curriculum in grades 6-12, curriculum focuses on prevention of alcohol, tobacco and other drug use with young people.
* By implementing a Positive Community Norms Project
* Providing Latino Outreach
* Offering support to youth and parents in South St. Paul
* Providing environmental approaches, community-wide approaches to preventing underage alcohol, tobacco and other drug use

The South St. Paul Healthy Youth Community Coalition Meeting Dates

The South St. Paul Healthy Youth Community Coalition meets the third Monday of each month from 3:00p.m. to 4:00p.m at Central Square Community Center in South St. Paul--JOIN US!


Subcommittees meet at 4:00 p.m. immediately following the coalition meeting.

Funding Provided by the Minnesota Department of Human Services-Alcohol and Drug Abuse Division

The South St. Paul Healthy Youth Community Coalition is funded through a block grant by the Minnesota Department of Human Services.
South St. Paul Special School District #6 is the recipient of the block grant.
The coalition links the schools, community and family in it's work to prevent and reduce alcohol, tobacco and other drug use in South St. Paul.
